Information about Fishers
Fishers is a beautiful town located on the North side of Indianapolis in Hamilton County. The town has a population of around 66,080 according to a special census which was conducted in late 2007. Since the 1980's, Fishers has grown at an astounding rate. The population was only 7,200 in 1990 and has grown to over seven times that.
In 2005, Fishers, Indiana was ranked the 24th best place to live in America by Money Magazine. They were also ranked 33rd best place to live in America again the following year. In 2008, Forbes Magazine listed Hamilton County as the most family-friendly place to live in America.
Fishers is home to many suburbanites who include local and Indianapolis business men and women. While the commutes are a bit rough in the morning and afternoons, waiting in traffic seems to be worth it to many residents here. Fishers, like many other North side suburbs (Carmel, Noblesville, Zionsville, and Westfield), offers a low crime rate due to a quality police department. Fishers offers state of the art municipalities including the fire department, local parks, wildlife reserves, and scenic lake views (Geist).
Families gravitate toward Fishers because of the parks, and friendly schools. Once a competitor for largest high school in the State of Indiana, Hamilton SouthEastern High School (HSE) has since split and a new high school was added to Fishers. Fishers High School opened its doors in the 2006-07 school year.
With great schools, great people, nice parks, and hardly any crime, Fishers, Indiana is truly one of America's most wonderful places to live.
